Club Communication

We will be communicating using the TeamReach app. Please make sure you download and sign up for the app.  Our Please also check for important information on our LakesFSC bulletin board at the rink. It’s not often we cancel lessons; lessons continue every week despite the weather. Please use your best judgment if you decide to venture out to the arena on such an evening. Notification of cancellations (if any) and other important reminders will also be sent out via TeamReach.

Where to Go

You can enter through the main doors of the Kent Freeman Arena on Rossman Ave. We will be skating in the South rink which is to the left when you enter. You will find benches in the hall to sit and put your skates on. The floors have a rubber mat all the way to the ice. The rubber mats may have small rocks and dirt on them from shoes. If you have guards, make sure you wear them to the ice to protect your blades.

Name Tags

We will have name tags that should be worn in every practice.  These name tags will be found on a table in the hallway near our practice rink. Your child will need to be wearing their name tag to get onto the ice. If your child doesn’t have a name tag, please go to the registration table to get one. Please return your child’s name tag to the table before you leave.

What to Wear

Make sure you have your skates sharpened! If they are brand new, they still need to be sharpened. If you sharpened them last year, they are probably due for a touch-up. Lakes Sport Shop in town sharpens skates along with places in Fargo too. We purchased a new skate sharpener for the Club and will let you know when that is up and running.  Please dress your skater in warm layers. Heavy jackets and snow pants can be restrictive and difficult to move in. Tights, leggings, or cuddle dud type clothing under warm sweatpants are suggested for their lower body. A few layers on top with a warm sweatshirt or non-bulky coat is suggested for their upper body. Gloves and hats would be recommended as well. Snowplow Sam skaters are not required to wear helmets but they are highly recommended to protect their heads when they fall. Bike helmets work great!

What to Expect

When a skater first registers, they start in Snowplow Sam or Basic One depending on the age of the child. If you’re unsure the coaches with help test skaters to get them placed at the correct level. As a skater passes a level we move them up, we don’t want skaters getting bored. We want to make skating fun and challenging!  For our Snowplow Sam level we will have Apprentices at the door to direct skaters to their class and help those that need help.  These Apprentices will also assist  the skaters during lessons so we don’t need parents on the ice. Our season starts mid October and ends with our main show in the end of February.   Lessons are 30-45 minutes long depending on the level.
